Iced Brown Sugar Oat Latte (Print Version)

Chilled coffee drink with rich brown sugar syrup and creamy oat milk, shaken over ice for a smooth touch.

# Ingredient List:

→ Brown Sugar Syrup

01 - 2 tablespoons brown sugar
02 - 2 tablespoons water
03 - 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
04 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

→ Coffee & Milk

05 - 1 shot (1 fl oz) espresso or 1/4 cup strong brewed coffee
06 - 3/4 cup (6 fl oz) chilled oat milk
07 - Ice cubes

# Steps:

01 - Combine brown sugar and water in a small saucepan. Heat over medium, stirring until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat, then stir in cinnamon and vanilla extract. Allow to cool.
02 - Prepare a fresh shot of espresso or brew strong coffee.
03 - Fill a cocktail shaker or large jar with ice cubes.
04 - Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of the cooled brown sugar syrup, espresso, and chilled oat milk to the shaker.
05 - Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 15 to 20 seconds until the mixture is well chilled and frothy.
06 - Strain into a tall glass filled with fresh ice. Garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon if desired and serve immediately.

# Helpful Hints:

01 -
  • It takes less time than waiting in a drive-through line and tastes cleaner than anything pre-made.
  • The brown sugar syrup adds a warm, caramel-like sweetness that white sugar just can't match.
  • Shaking it with ice creates a frothy, creamy texture that feels indulgent without any cream.
02 -
  • If you skip cooling the syrup before adding it to the shaker, it can melt the ice too fast and dilute the drink.
  • Shaking for the full 15 to 20 seconds is what creates that frothy, creamy texture, don't rush it or it'll just be watery coffee.
03 -
  • Use a jar with a tight-fitting lid if you don't have a shaker, it works just as well and you can see the froth forming as you shake.
  • Chill your glass in the freezer for a few minutes before serving, it keeps the drink colder longer and feels extra refreshing.
