Air-Fryer Tornado Potatoes (Print Version)

Golden spiral potatoes, seasoned and air-fried, create a crispy, flavorful snack or side for any occasion.

# Ingredient List:

→ Potatoes

01 - 4 medium russet potatoes, scrubbed

→ Seasoning

02 - 2 tablespoons olive oil
03 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder
04 - 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
05 - 1/2 teaspoon salt
06 - 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

→ Optional Toppings

07 - 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (omit for vegan)
08 - 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
09 - 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)

# Steps:

01 - Insert a long wooden or metal skewer lengthwise through the center of each potato.
02 - Hold the skewer and use a sharp knife to cut the potato in a spiral motion, rotating from one end to the other. Gently stretch the potato along the skewer to create evenly spaced spirals.
03 - Combine olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl. Brush or rub the mixture evenly onto each spiral, ensuring full coverage within the layers.
04 - Preheat the air fryer to 375°F for 3 minutes.
05 - Place the skewered potatoes in the air fryer basket, ensuring they do not touch. Air-fry for 20 to 25 minutes, turning halfway, until golden and crispy.
06 - Optionally, sprinkle the potatoes with Parmesan, fresh parsley, and chili flakes before serving.

# Helpful Hints:

01 -
  • Made in the air fryer for less oil.
  • Fun spiral shape makes it extra appealing for kids and adults.
02 -
  • Soaking potatoes in cold water before air-frying makes them extra crispy.
  • Choose similarly sized potatoes so they cook evenly.
03 -
  • Try sweet potatoes for a flavor twist.
  • If you want extra crunch, soak the spiraled potatoes and pat dry before seasoning.
